Cannamoms is a growing term in the Cannabis world to reference Moms who use Cannabis to help them parent. Cannamoms report being more patient and present with their children. Based on one study more than one-third of American women over 21 use Cannabis. It’s safe to assume that some of those women are mothers.

Motherhood brings a whole slew of challenges and new experiences that are mind-boggling, to say the least. Feed the baby, clean the house, call the doctor, the list goes on. Now this isn’t saying that Cannamoms are just wanting to be high all the time. These mothers are using Cannabis to relieve things like stress, anxiety, and PPD. Most Cannamoms use Cannabis products that are only CBD or low THC strains to achieve this.

Some women choose to use Cannabis while pregnant or breastfeeding to combat nausea, perinatal depression, HG, or other mood disorders. Cannamoms especially face harsh stigma from society and the threat of CPS depending on the state they live in. There is a lack of research and conflicting research when it comes to Cannabis use during pregnancy and breastfeeding but one study that has been done shows no adverse effects for newborns or babies that were breastfed by a Cannamom. In some states like Arizona, California, and New York having a medical marijuana card eliminates the threat of CPS being called for the use of Cannabis.

For the current and possibly future Cannamoms out there, how and what you use to consume your Cannabis matters. It all comes down to harm reduction. The top way to eliminate harm is to eat your Cannabis. If you choose to inhale your Cannabis look into purchasing a whole herb vaporizer. If you like the rolling experience use hemp or leaf wraps that aren’t tobacco. Tobacco is a big NO when it comes to breastfeeding and pregnant Cannamoms.
